LCC API Integration
Low-cost carriers rarely sit in a GDS and rarely hold a fare. FlightOTA connects to their booking systems directly and sells them through the same flight API as full-service airlines, with their bags, seats and meals, and with instant ticketing from your deposit.
Low-cost carrier content beside full-service airlines
Low-cost carriers sell differently. Their fares are built from a bare seat plus paid extras, they expect payment when the booking is made, and each airline has a booking system of its own rather than a GDS presence. Integrating them one by one is slow, and their rules rarely match the fares next to them.
FlightOTA's direct LCC connections put those airlines into the same search results as GDS and NDC content. An LCC offer comes back in the same JSON as any other, with its baggage allowance stated per segment, its fare rules, and the seats, bags and meals the airline sells. Offers marked instant_ticket are paid and ticketed in the booking call, so your customer leaves with a confirmed ticket.
That matters for B2C sites selling domestic and regional routes, for B2B portals whose agents compare a low-cost fare against a full-service one on the same screen, and for packaging engines that bundle a low-cost flight with a hotel.
How an LCC booking runs through the API
The same five calls as every other airline; these are the low-cost specifics to design for.
- 01
Search once, compare everything
POST /flights/search returns low-cost offers beside GDS and NDC ones. Some sources sell one-way and round trip only, so multi-city searches return fewer airlines.
- 02
Add the extras
GET /flights/offers/{offer_id}/extras lists the bags, seats and meals the carrier sells for that offer. Show weight_kg where pieces is null: most low-cost allowances are weight-only.
- 03
Book: paid and ticketed at once
An offer with instant_ticket true cannot be held. Booking it pays the fare and the extras from your deposit and tickets immediately, so read the deposit balance first for large bookings.
- 04
Handle changes by the airline's rules
Refund and change terms come from the carrier's own rules: refundable null means the airline did not say. Requests go through the API, and our desk quotes by hand where the airline does not answer itself.
